In the beginning, after being influenced through the shadows she saw on the grass of trees, she worked for months to create a method that didn't depict the object in a 2D image. When objects live or a thing that can be eaten, like fruit and even people and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of themselves. Alexa's style of painting exhibits a hazy quality the only thing left of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Trompe l'oeil is achieved using the two processes of painting and photographing. The result is a flattened, two dimensional image. Meade occasionally integrates painted models within the surrounding space. It allows them to be part of the world she has created. The result is a blurring of the lines between photography, painting, and installation.
