Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaker. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency the website which includes videos and commentary on gender representations in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as blogger. She is the founder and executive director of Feminist Frequency, a not-for-profit educational website that focuses on the role of women in popular media narratives. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes of women and the way they appear in popular culture. Additionally, she works to raise awareness of internet-based harassment targeting women as well as marginalized groups of people. Sarkeesian, who holds an MS in Social and Political Theory in the field of social and political thought from York University, is also a highly sought after public speaker.
